FAQs

Some Margarita Girl frequently asked questions appear below.

If your question is not covered here, please contact us.

  • How can I fix a leaking tap?
A leaking tap is usually the result of a loose or damaged O-ring. While we do test each machine before it leaves our warehouse, vibration during shipment can dislodge an O-ring. Fortunately, this is an easy fix! Simply pull the securing pin out of the tap, disengage the handle from the piston, slide out the piston, remove the red or orange O-ring(s) from the piston, add a small amount of food-grade lubricant to the piston, replace the O-ring(s) with new one(s) from the spare parts kit, and reinstall the piston, handle and securing pin.
  • How long does it take to freeze?
Most of our frozen drink machines will produce slush in 2 to 3 hours, depending upon the room temperature and the sugar and alcohol content of the mix. Our fully-insulated Commercial Frozen Drink Machine and soft serve ice cream machines will yield product in 20 to 30 minutes.
  • How many (8-ounce) cups per batch?
Single-Bowl Mini Size Frozen Drink Machine: about 25 cups Double-Bowl Mini Size Frozen Drink Machine: about 50 cups Single-Bowl Full Size Frozen Drink Machine: about 50 cups Double-Bowl Full Size Frozen Drink Machine: about 100 cups Triple-Bowl Full Size Frozen Drink Machine: about 150 cups Commercial Frozen Drink Machine: about 100 cups Compact Commercial Soft Serve Machine: about 20 cups Full Size Commercial Soft Serve Machine: about 46 cups

  • Do you offer quantity discounts?
Yes. If you are interested in ordering 2 or more machines, please e-mail us for a quote.
  • Does the machine come with a warranty?
Yes. For a period of 2 years from the date of purchase, we will provide a replacement part for any non-consumable part on the machine that breaks (except due to abuse or negligence).
  • Why is frost forming on the outside of the bowl?
When frost forms on the outside of the bowl, it usually means that the mix you are using contains too much alcohol. Since the freezing point of alcohol is very low, your machine is struggling to freeze the mix. To prevent this from happening, wait until slush begins to form before adding alcohol or use chilled alcohol.
  • When will I get my machine?
We typically process orders within 1-2 business days and the transit time varies by location. We cannot guarantee that your machine will reach you by a certain date.
  • Do you ship outside of the continental United States?
No, our carrier will deliver only to street addresses within the continental United States. If you would like to have a machine shipped outside the continental United States, please contact a freight forwarder for assistance.
  • Do I have to pay using PayPal?
No, you do not have to have a PayPal account to purchase from Margarita Girl. We accept debit and credit cards. At checkout, click the PayPal button and a new pop-up window will open where you can either "Log In" PayPal or choose "Pay with Debit or Credit Card". Please see the image below.
  • Can I leave mix in the machine overnight?
Yes, our commercial-grade machines have a night mode that allows your mix to stay cold overnight. Can I use the machine outside? Our mini size (residential-grade) frozen drink machines are designed for indoor use only. Our full size (commercial-grade) frozen drink machines and our soft serve ice cream machines can be used outdoors in a covered area.
  • What type of power source do I need?
All of our frozen drink machines plug in to a 115V power outlet; our Single and Double-Hopper Commercial Frozen Drink Machines plug in to a twist-and-lock style power outlet. Our Compact Commercial Soft Serve Machine plugs in to a 115V power outlet; our Full Size Commercial Soft Serve Machine plugs in to a 230V twist-and-lock style power outlet. Avoid using an extension cord as that could damage your machine.
  • How do I clean the machine?
Empty any remaining product from the machine (and refrigerate for later use). Remove auger(s) and drip tray(s) and wash them in the top rack of a dishwasher without heat. Allow the machine to come to room temperature. Add warm water and a drop or two of dishwashing liquid to the bowl/hopper. Empty the soapy water from the tap of the machine. Flush the machine once or twice with plain warm water and allow to dry completely.
  • What type of drink mix should I use?
Most mixes made specifically for use with frozen drink machines will work well. You can also use Kool-Aid® type mixes, soda pop, clear fruit juices, wine, etc. Your beverage should contain at least 15% sugar, so avoid diet/low-calorie/skinny beverages which usually do not slush well.
  • Do you offer a referral incentive?
Yes! We are a small, woman-owned business that depends upon customer referrals. If you refer someone to us and they purchase a machine from us, we will send you a $25 gift card as a token of our appreciation.
  • How often should I clean the machine?
We recommend that you clean your machine after each use. If you are using a mix that does not contain dairy product, you should clean the machine at least every 2-3 days. If you are using a mix that contains dairy product, you should clean and sanitize the machine daily.
  • Why did the handle break?
The handles of our machines are designed to last for years with proper use and maintenance. To prevent breakage of the handle due to resistance, be sure to lubricate the piston periodically to ensure that it moves freely.
  • Why is liquid leaking from the base of the bowl?
When liquid leaks from the base of the bowl, it usually means that there is a poor seal between the bowl and the white silicone gasket. To prevent this from happening, add a small amount of food-grade lubricant to the cavity of the gasket and firmly insert the bowl into the gasket. If you still notice a leak, you may need to replace the gasket with one of the spares that came with your machine.
  • Does the machine need to be filled all of the way?
No. However, for best results, put enough mix in the hopper to cover the freezing cylinder. Adding less mix should not hurt the machine, but may affect the consistency of the product.
